Little Rider Co Featured Partner - Meet ‘The Bike Club’

Teaching your child to ride a bike and seeing them whizzing along is a proud moment for any parent. However, the barrier many face when kitting out their child with a new high-quality bike is knowing which bike to choose – not to mention the upfront cost. The expense is particularly painful when parents know that the bike they purchase for their little one today will only last them a year or so, before it is outgrown…

Many parents end up compromising on size and quality when buying kids bikes – and unfortunately, this often means kids end up have a less enjoyable experience of cycling, too.

Step in the Bike Club. Founded by James Symes and Alexandra Rico-Lloyd, young parents from London, this kids bike subscription service provides a solution – enabling families to exchange their children’s bikes as they grow (from just £4.99 a month).

Since these monthly subscriptions were made available in late 2016, over 36,000 people around the UK have signed up to the Bike Club community, and are enjoying fun family bike rides.

The concept is simple. Parents make monthly payments in return for the long-term loan of a premium kid’s bike from the best brands (including Frog, Forme, Squish & Strider).

You pick the perfect-sized bike for your child and when they’ve outgrown it – simply exchange it for the next size up.

You can also choose between brand-new or refurbished preloved bikes (‘reBikes’) – so it’s sustainable, too. Plus, you’ll never have outgrown bikes filling up your shed again, have to go through the hassle of selling the old bike online, or contribute to landfill. Win, win!

Prices start at £4.99 a month for a balance bike with a range of models and sizes available in stock for quick delivery.

The Bike Club celebrate their members’ achievements regularly - in a blog series entitled #LittleRevolutions. It's amazing to see what these children can accomplish on their lightweight bikes - with each revolution of their wheels, they’re changing their own worlds!
